Emirates Old Trafford is delighted to announce that it will be hosting the 2018 Business of Cricket Awards (BOCAs) later this year.
The BOCAs, which are delivered annually by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to recognise excellence in county cricket off the pitch, will come to the home of Lancashire Cricket Club for the first time on 22 November 2018.
The awards have been held at Lord’s for the last two years after previously being hosted by Warwickshire at Edgbaston, but this will be the first time they have been staged in Manchester.
Lancashire Cricket Club CEO, Daniel Gidney, said: “We are pleased to have been selected by the ECB to host the Business of Cricket Awards.
“We’re proud to offer an all-inclusive stadium – boasting an experienced conference and events business, four-star Hilton Garden Inn hotel and world-class sporting facilities – following on from a successful £60m redevelopment project.
“This announcement represents a real celebration for the growth of the sport right across all of the counties and we’re looking forward to welcoming our peers to Emirates Old Trafford.”
The BOCAs recognises off-the-pitch activities across a multitude of categories, from the ‘Warmest Welcome’ to ‘Best Campaigns’ and ‘Fan Innovation’.
Gordon Hollins, the ECB’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “The BOCAs are always a special night, with the chance to recognise the quality of off-field work that goes on around our 18 first-class counties and MCC, and the redeveloped Emirates Old Trafford will be a fitting venue.”
Housed within Emirates Old Trafford’s flagship facility, The Point, the event will welcome guests and representatives from 18 counties and MCC, marking the close of the 2018 county cricket season.
