What's on in Manchester at February half-term?
Looking for something for the kids to enjoy in February half-term isn’t always easy. It was only Christmas the other day, right? And the weather shows no signs of improving…
But there’s still an array of activities for youngsters to enjoy in Manchester and the Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford is just a stone’s throw away.
Here’s the hotel’s top picks, to make the family mid-winter break sparkle!
To check dates, room availability and to book, please visit the Hilton Garden Inn booking page HERE.
The ‘Year of the Dog’ begins on Friday 16th February and offers four days on the brightest celebrations across the city, culminating in the spectacular Dragon Parade.
But if you don’t fancy hanging around in the cold, head to the Manchester Arndale for a hive of creative family workshops. Teachers from China will be on hand to introduce children and adults to their unique cultural activities, like Chinese knot making and Calligraphy.
Children will be able to choose a specific Chinese character and the teacher will demonstrate how one draws it on special paper using a brush and ink. If paintings not your things, try your hand at traditional knot making and create your family’s own knotted bracelet, decorated with an animal charm to welcome in the Year of the Dog!
The workshops take place in the Arndale shopping centre, on Saturday 17 February from 11am – 4pm.
Following the success of Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Twits and The Witches, Curve’s magnificent new co-production with Rose Theatre Kingston promises to be yet another hugely imaginative and entertaining stage adaptation, bursting with growing grannies, feathery farm animals and bags of frothbuggling family fun.
But be quick, tickets are selling fast! Book your seats at The Lowry, for showings between 20 – 24 February.
Does your little one love performing or dream of being on the screen? This full-day course at MediaCityUK is an opportunity they’ll never forget!
Take your child along on Thursday 22 February and they will experience a fun and informative training day like no other. A fully interactive workshop means that attendees not only present to camera but will also be involved in the studio management and production side too.
During the day students will discover how to communicate effectively and why body language and vocal tone are so important. We’ll then use those newly learnt skills to film each student presenting a number of different TV show scenarios like co-presenting, autocue and working with green screen. The footage will then be professionally edited into a show reel for each presenter to either apply to castings or a keep sake as a reminder of the day.
With guidance and direction from our specially selected training coaches that include CBBC Directors, Presenters and Writers you can be sure that the children will gain an invaluable learning experience in core presenting and communication skills.
